HOW TO GROW A BAND

Filmed with uncommon access, HOW TO GROW A BAND provides a rare look at the start of one of Americaâ??s most promising young bands - progressive bluegrass outfit Punch Brothers - and explores the tensions that test young artists. The filmmakers are in town for Q&As all weekend and members of the band will make a special appearance at the 8:00PM show tonight at the Village East Cinema!

COMIC CON EPISODE IV: A FAN’S HOPE

This Morgan Spurlock doc features one-on-one interviews with Stan Lee, Joss Whedon, Frank Miller, Kevin Smith, Matt Groening, Seth Rogen, and Eli Roth â?? along with front row coverage of all the panels, parades, photos, costumes, and crowds of San Diego Comic Con. Spurlock will be joining us Saturday 4/14 at the Village East Cinema for a special Q&A.

UNRAVELED

Definitely the weekend of documentaries! Alternately moving and infuriating, the story of Marc Drier - lesser known than but equally as nefarious as Bernie Madoff - is never less than riveting. Members of the NYC legal community, noted ethicists, and the filmmaker will be at the Village East all weekend for panel discussions on the issues brought up by this story of a white collar criminal’s tragic unravelling.

THE ISLAND PRESIDENT

The story of President Mohamed Nasheed of the Maldives, a man confronting the literal survival of his country and everyone in it as global warming and rising sea levels threaten his low-lying nation. This doc has been praised for capturing rare glimpses of the political horse-trading that goes on at the top levels of global politics. Now Playing at the Village East.
