Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg, and Nick Frost on THE WORLD’S END

August 23, 2013

Our man in Dallas, Adam Conway, caught up with director Edgar Wright and actors Simon Pegg and Nick Frost to talk about their new film THE WORLD’S END – the final film in their Cornetto Trilogy (aka the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy). They talk about how the idea for the film came about, some movies that influenced it, as well as their favorite scene to film and some of the best movies they have seen this year.

Director Edgar Wright reunites with stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for the final installment in the uproarious Cornetto Trilogy (also known as the Blood and Ice Cream Trilogy), which began with Shaun of the Dead, an instant cult classic send up of zombie movie gore fests, and Hot Fuzz, a blood spattered spoof of American actions movies. Their latest is THE WORLD’S END, an apocalyptic comedy in which Gary (Pegg) reunites his buddies for a marathon pub crawl, until an alien invasion suddenly leaves the entire fate of mankind hanging in the balance.

THE WORLD’S END opens 8/23 at the Angelika Dallas.

WEST OF MEMPHIS subject/producers discuss their story

January 25, 2013

A poweful documentary that’s been receiving critical attention since its premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, WEST OF MEMPHIS tells the untold story behind an extraordinary and desperate fight to stop the State of Arkansas from killing an innocent man.

Adam Conway recently sat down Damien Echols and Lorri Davis, subjects and producers of the film, to talk about their journey — from Echols’ wrongful incarceration for a crime he didn’t commit, to his 18 year struggle with the justice system to prove his innocence and gain his freedom, to working with filmmakers Amy Berg, Fran Walsh, and Peter Jackson to distill the documentary footage into an emotional and resonant film.

Check out the interview below for an inside look at this eye-opening documentary, now playing at the Angelika Dallas:

Rashida Jones and Will McCormack on CELESTE & JESSE FOREVER

August 17, 2012

Adam with the Angelika Blog sats down with writers/actors Rashida Jones and Will McCormack to discuss their new film CELESTE & JESSE FOREVER. They talk about being first-time writers and the arduous task of selling a script several times over and eventually finding a home with Sony Pictures Classics. They also talk about casting Jones and Andy Samberg in the lead roles, and the atmosphere on a set that had only 3 weeks to film.

ABOUT THE FILM:

CELESTE AND JESSE FOREVER transforms the conventional romantic comedy with a bracingly honest real life vibe, exploring both the comedy and complexity of love and friendship. Saturday Night Liveâ??s Andy Samberg and Parks and Recreationâ??s Rashida Jones (who also coâ??wrote the screenplay) star as a couple who married young, grew apart, and separated when their lives went in different directions. While navigating the turbulent changes in their lives and in their hearts, these two learn that in order to truly love someone, you may have to let them go.

First-time director and stars discuss Sundance winner BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD

July 6, 2012

A Sundance Film Festival sensation, the stunning BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD is destined to be one of 2012â??s most hotly discussed features. With an incredible cast of nonâ??professionals, the film tells an inspiring story of survival in the southernmost marshes of Louisiana. Focusing on a resilient sixâ??yearâ??old girl, the film salutes the tenacity and camaraderie of the community. They must endure not only the ravages of nature but also the attacks of predatory creatures thawed by ice marshes.

We sat down with Grand Jury Prize winning director Benh Zeitlin to discuss everything from working on his own feature film debut with first-time actors in lead roles, the production design and shooting on location in New Orleans, to getting into Sundance and Cannes film festivals and winning several awards. We also talk to two of the actors who bring the fantastically surreal world of the film to life – Dwight Henry and Quvenzhane Wallis, who play a father and daughter trying to survive the fictional section of New Orleans called the Bathtub. Check it out below and catch BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD at the Angelikas Dallas and Plano – Now Playing.
