We recently sat down with multi-hyphenate filmmakers Nat Faxon and Jim Rash to discuss their new film, THE WAY WAY BACK. The Oscar winning writing duo behind THE DESCENDANTS spills about their writing process, what it was like to direct for the first time, how the film came about, and the long road to get the film made.

THE WAY, WAY BACK is the funny and poignant coming of age story of 14 year old Duncan’s summer vacation with his mother, her overbearing boyfriend, and his daughter. Having a rough time fitting in, the introverted Duncan finds an unexpected friend in the gregarious manager of the Water Wizz water park &mdash and this funny, clandestine friendship helps Duncan open up to and find his place in the world. This Sundance Film Festival favorite features a stellar cast including Steve Carrel, Toni Collette, Sam Rockwell, and Allison Janney.

Adam with the Angelika Blog sits down with Zal Batmanglij (Director, Co-Writer, Producer) and Brit Marling (Actress, Co-Writer & Producer) to discuss their new collaboration, THE EAST. Marling and Batmanglij discuss their writing process, working on set together, and of the experiences that shaped the idea for a film about Eco-terrorism. The filmmaking duo, who previously worked together on indie favorite SOUND OF MY VOICE, also reveal who they would most want to work with in Hollywood.

A poweful documentary that’s been receiving critical attention since its premiere at last year’s Sundance Film Festival, WEST OF MEMPHIS tells the untold story behind an extraordinary and desperate fight to stop the State of Arkansas from killing an innocent man.

Adam Conway recently sat down Damien Echols and Lorri Davis, subjects and producers of the film, to talk about their journey — from Echols’ wrongful incarceration for a crime he didn’t commit, to his 18 year struggle with the justice system to prove his innocence and gain his freedom, to working with filmmakers Amy Berg, Fran Walsh, and Peter Jackson to distill the documentary footage into an emotional and resonant film.

Adam with the Angelika Blog sats down with writers/actors Rashida Jones and Will McCormack to discuss their new film CELESTE & JESSE FOREVER. They talk about being first-time writers and the arduous task of selling a script several times over and eventually finding a home with Sony Pictures Classics. They also talk about casting Jones and Andy Samberg in the lead roles, and the atmosphere on a set that had only 3 weeks to film.
